Severe Weather Closure Information

Emergencies such as snow, ice, and power outages can alter school schedules and affect bus transportation for students.  During inclement weather, the Superintendent, in cooperation with KWRL, closely monitors road and weather conditions with the safety of students as a first priority. In the event of inclement weather, every effort is made to make a decision to close or delay school by 5:30 a.m., followed by an announcement to our district families via Flash Alert, School Messenger, our district website, La Center School District Facebook page and Vancouver/Portland area radio and TV stations.

Some families may not receive the phone call from School Messenger as phone companies are blocking robo-calls on their systems.  There is nothing the district can do on our side to fix this problem.

Parents/guardians or staff can opt-in to receive SMS text notifications by texting  “Yes” or “Y” to 67587, then add 67587 as La Center School District SMS Messages to your contacts.

If you do not want to receive SMS text messages, please check the district website, Facebook page, link to Flash Alert (above).

You can also subscribe to Flash Alert notifications by downloading the app on your phone. See the information linked here to download the app and then subscribe to La Center alerts.
