Supplies:

Book 1 Accent on Achievement
Clarinets and Alto Saxes need #2 reeds, and cork grease
All brass need oil and slide grease.
Trombones need slide cream or slide oil (I prefer the cream)

Electric guitar and piano are used only in jazz band grades 6-7-8. Auditions are required.

ALL BAND STUDENTS REHEARSE TOGETHER ON FRIDAYS
HOME PRACTICE
  • Students should be practicing a minimum of 90 minutes each week.
  • 30 minutes each day is ideal for a beginner. If you practice more than that, take a break between sessions.
  • Start each practice session with long steady tones.
  • Always push yourself to do better.
 DO's and DO NOT's
  • Don't: share your instrument with other students.
  • Don't: forget your instrument, book, and supplies on band days.
  • Don't: put others down - we're all beginners...
  • Do:  play for your family
  • Do: have friends come over and play together
  • Get Smart Music to practice with.
  • Always play with a good tone.
