The Great War

The First World War was a global military conflict that started out with European royalty, of which most were related somehow, forming alliances and venturing into what they believed would be a quick and profitable game of “RISK.”  These alliances became known as the  Allied Powers and the Central Powers.  Over 70 million ordinary men struggled to gain power for their kings in one of the largest wars in history.  It all started with horses and gatling guns, but the industrial revolution allowed both sides to pump their entire scientific and industrial capabilities into the war effort.  And so war industry was born. In no time at all the weapons of death and destruction ranged from machine guns, tanks, planes, and bombs.  Over 15 million people were killed,  making it one of the deadliest conflicts in history.
