Lesson 12 - Environmental Issues

This chapter is important because the world around us is consistently becoming more polluted. You, as the next generation need to be aware of what is happening on the planet earth in terms of the environment.

1. Read pages 94-96 in the Chemistry Dictionary and note the different areas of pollution taking place on the planet.

2. Go to the New Environmentalist page: http://www.mde.state.md.us/BusinessInfoCenter/PollutionPrevention/information/eca.asp and click on the calculators site. Email me at least two calculations after you added your own numbers into the formulas.

3. Read at least 4 articles from all of the given sites. Give 3 summary sentences from any of the sites and 2 questions asking the author about the article. Email these reviews.

4. Click on the MSDS section of the following article: http://www.canby.com/hemphill/chmfrm.html and email me why you might need to know about MSDS's. Take the quiz at the top of the page in the blue box from the section called : "Where to find MSDS's on the Internet" Under the heading MSDS and Safety. After you take the 7 part quiz email me the 8th question and answer and the 11th question and answer.

5. Go to: http://quizstar.4teachers.org/index.jsp and to take the quiz on environment.
