Open to Grades: 5, 6, 7 and 8
Length of Course: Full Year
Prerequisites: None
Goals/Skills Developed: Students explore various science content areas while they develop science process skills such as observation, inference, classification, forming a hypothesis, collecting and analyzing data. Students have fun learning science concepts through a variety of activities.
Assignments: Participation in after school activities.
Knowledge Bowl
Open to Grades: 6, 7 and 8
Length of Course: January through March
Prerequisites: Athletic Eligibility Requirements
Goals/Skills Developed: Students learn teamwork and develop camaraderie as they study and express their knowledge on a wide variety of topics and subject areas in a competitive atmosphere.
Assignments: Attend practices and meets on a regular basis.
Math Olympiad
Open to grades: 5, 6, 7, and 8
Length: Meet once per week after school in March and April to prepare for the event on the first Saturday of May each year.
Prerequisites: A desire to have fun and to be challenged in math
Goals/Objectives:
To give students an opportunity to compete in mathematics at a regional level
To challenge students in mathematics
To use collaboration skills to accomplish a common task
Assignments: There will be no assignments given outside of the group meetings.
Introduction to Drama
Open to Grades: 7 and 8
Length of Course: Full Year
Goals/Skills Developed: Drama is a progressive course that will last two semesters. Instruction and experience will be provided in the areas of acting, costuming, basic stage design, publicity, stagecraft, and direction, leading to public performance.
