"The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

On January 24, 25 and 26, the La Center High School Drama Department will be presenting the classic tale by Victor Hugo, *_The Hunchback of Notre Dame._*  This is the story of the ill-fated love of a deformed man for a beautiful gypsy woman.  The drama takes place in the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in the 1400's, and the evil priest from the cathedral decides that he must also posses the beautiful gypsy for himself.

Although there is plenty of humor in this play, this version is NOT the cheery Disney version.  Disney took the dramatic story and made it into a cute tale where the stars live happily ever after.  However, the script that we present follows the actual tale of the original book and is filled with much more drama and serious consequences.  It is a tale of a gentle hunchback who finally falls in love, only to have the reality of his love bring about unexpected events.  It is an evening of fun and intrigue for most of the family.  It is NOT recommended for younger children due to the mature nature of events.

Tickets are $5.00 per person, regardless of age.  The play begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. in the La Center High School Commons.  For contact information call Don Landes-McCullough at 360-263-1700.
