LESSON GOALS:

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

 

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES:  

 

  1. Get re-acquainted. Re-introduce yourself to the students in your advisory group. Introduce any new students. Welcome them back to school. As an icebreaker, you may wish to talk about your summer vacations and plans for the year.  Revisit / remind students of “colors” activity.

 

  1. Encourage students to register for the PSAT. The SAT is the main college entrance exam. The PSAT is the SAT’s practice test.Encourage students to learn about the PSAT at www.collegeboard.com and share information with them about how to sign up. (5 minutes)

 

  1. Check credits and grades. Help students check their credits or grades to ensure they are progressing toward graduation. (5 minutes)

 

  1. Update portfolios and activity log. Distribute copies of the 10th Grade Portfolio Checklist and the activity log.  Ask students to use it to prepare their portfolios for this year. (10 minutes)
