Restore to a Prior Restore Point
To restore Windows XP to an earlier restore point, perform the following steps:

Click on the start menu and open the "Run..." selection.

In the space provided by the Run command, type "c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe"

Verify the radio button for restoring is selected and then click the button labeled "Next" in the lower right corner of the window.

Click to select the day of the calendar that you want to restore to, and then select the appropriate restore point in the list of restore points that show up on the right.

Click "Next"

The system will confirm the restore point you selected.

Verify the information, and then click Next.

The system will then restart and restore the computer back to the restore point that you selected. Once the system has restarted and you have logged back on, the system will notify you that the restoration is complete.

Verify that restoring the system has fixed your problem. If it has not, you may need to restore to an earlier restore point.
