Program Description: AM Independent Study


Schedule:---- ----------------Mondays -Thursdays ------8:30-10:30 General Session
------------------------------------Mondays - Thursdays------11:00- 11:45 Attendance Make-up/Office Hours

Staff:----------------------------Rebecca Morris, Washington certificated 4-12th grade teacher

Student Population:-------Up to 14 students
------------------------------------9th(2nd semester) - 12th graders
----------------------------------- Students who: *learn best through an independent approach and study hall setting
----------------------------------------------------------*transfer into ALC mid-semester and need to learn the system of ALC
----------------------------------------------------------*have been referred by administration at LCHS

Approach: -------------------Weekly assignment sheets listing assignments and deadlines
------------------------------------Independent learning contracts
------------------------------------Weekly 1:1 student and teacher assignment meetings
------------------------------------1-2 weekly program meetings and/or activities

On-Campus Time:--------To be individually scheduled (between 2 and 8 hours per week)

Off-Campus Time: -------Minimum of 17 hours (if hours 8 required On-campus)
*This is individyally determined for each student based upon the number of coures underway and specifics clarified in student's WSLP (Written Student Learning Plan)
Full-time students are required ( via a combination of On-campus and Off-campus time) to complete a miimum of 25 hours per week.

Progress Reporting: ----Progress Reports are produced and distributed to students on the first Monday or Tuesday of each month. Progress reports include: the number of assignment hours completed for the month, previous month's hours, total numver of completed jours for each course and a percentage(%) of total course completion . Attendance and a narrative overview of that student's progress will also be recorded. Student's enrollment status will also be ranked into one of the following categories: enrolled, academic warning, enrollment probation (with or without a Continuing Enrollment Contract), conditional enrollment, dropped or graduated. If a conference is required to review a student's progress and problem solve hurdles to a student's success it will be noted on this monthly report.

Course Completion Criteria:

Minimum of 75 hours of documented assignment completion
All quizzes and tests passed with a score of 75% or bette
Cumulative final examination passsed with a score of 75% or better
All essential assignments compleed in a quality manner
All projects completed in a manner consistent with stated criteria
